Frequently
Asked Questions:
What is
Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can be
described as an effective and speedy technique of psychotherapy
using hypnosis to gain access to the sub-conscious mind. This gives
us the ability to help change programming and conditioning from
childhood, sometimes releasing memories for evaluation, thereby
bringing about rapid and permanent transformations.
This is a therapy
requiring consent and co-operation. Hypnosis is the key that unlocks
the door into your thoughts, memories and emotions.
Hypnotherapy is not
just about problems, it is about getting in touch with ourselves and
finding out why we are the way we are.
What is Hypnosis?
It has been described
as a state of altered consciousness – not a state of unconsciousness
(sleep), as you are fully aware of everything during the session and
can recall everything afterwards.
It can perhaps best
be described as a daydreaming state, similar to the time just before
going to sleep and just after awakening.
In hypnosis the
critical faculties of the conscious mind are reduced and
suggestibility to beneficial changes is increased. The sub-conscious
mind comes to the fore so that we can communicate with it and help
make changes.
Can anyone be
hypnotised?
Yes. If they want to
be.
What does it feel
like?
Each person has
different sensations. Most people will experience a sort of lethargy
with heaviness in their arms and legs. Reports vary with each
experience although most report to have had heightened awareness of
their surroundings.
