Some women feel as though they need to do it all.

Juggle a career at the highest level, be the best chief, have the best possible home, the cleanest environment, be the fittest, slimmest, prettiest, sexiest, the best host with a full social life, best friend, daughter, wife. Some women also pass this on to their children insisting, they will be the best dancer with the tidiest room and the neatest homework. No stone left unturned, plumped up to perfection. This could be a condition called Superwoman Syndrome. A term first coined in 1984, Superwoman Syndrome occurs when a woman neglects herself because she is seeking to ‘do it all’ to perfection and stretching herself to the maximum. The idea that this perfectionism could lead to happiness is a fallacy.Instead of feeling fulfilled, you could find yourself feeling stressed, anxious and chronically fatigued. In psychotherapy we explore the unfulfilled need driving this behaviour and aim to reintroduce balance.
